About the Meter Boxes
After the Contractor, Hydro Vac Excavation, has installed your new P.I. Meter. The locking meter box with Highland City on the cover SHOULD NOT be opened by residents. You will now be able to turn off your system using either:
-
a new ball valve found within the round valve box, see photo 1 below.
-
or if the new meter box is now located in the park strip the existing valve in the existing box is now yours, see photo 2 below.
-
or your existing ball valve.

Your sprinkler system should be fully functional and was most likely only without water for a portion of a day. The meter, associated ball valve and other repairs have been inspected and at the time did not have any leaks or observed issues. Please take a quick look at your new connection to your system and report any issues to Hydro Vac Excavation.

LANDSCAPING
During the installation of the new meter, it is likely that some landscaping was required to be removed and replaced. Please note that you have the next sixty (60) days to coordinate with the Contractor regarding the landscape repair. Please contact the Contractor directly.
The Contractor tried to replace landscaping as close as possible to pre disturbance conditions. At this point, the Contractor has replaced the landscaping. With the higher temperatures of summer, the landscaping will need some extra attention by you for a few weeks to keep your new sod/plants alive. For the first week, please hand water the replaced sod twice a day to keep the soil damp, but not soaked. After the first week, hand water sod once a day to keep soil damp. This may be needed over the course of the hottest months of the summer.
For the first two weeks, water new shrubs and trees daily. After the initial two weeks, water new shrubs and trees three (3)times a week for the following month. Please hand water the new landscaping to conserve water.

Rates
Metered rates will be charged after all connections in the city are metered and a final rate structure is adopted by the City Council. You will be able to review your usage and expected fees based on current usage before the new fee structure goes into effect. The existing flat rate structure will continue until the city is entirely metered.

AMI – Is Here (see home page for details)
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) allows the resident to track hourly water usage. As part of the project, radios have been added to the water meters. These radios will send you hourly updates through an online platform. This will allow you to easily track your water usage and can help you detect any leaks in your system. Once the radios have been installed, the City will provide you with more details
